What We Do
THE TRINITY CENTRE
TRINITY WOMEN'S CENTRE
FLOATING SUPPORT, HEALTHCARE + ADULT LEARNING
Floating Support
Trinity aims to ensure that those who are found housing remain housed. A small team from Trinity works with selected local authority tenants who are considered to be in danger of losing their homes. The project workers provide on-going support with life skills: paying bills, form filling, budgeting and claiming benefits. Combined with access to the drop-in, Trinity is able to offer a holistic, seamless service with the aim of preventing the recurrence of homelessness.
Trinity has contracts with Winchester City and Hampshire County Councils as part of the Supporting People initiative.

Healthcare
Healthcare is a particular concern for those suffering the effects of homelessness and/or addiction. Mid-Hampshire Primary Care Trust provides a team of 6 healthcare professionals - 2 GPs, a lead nurse, a mental health nurse and a health visitor - who spend part of their week at the Homeless Healthcare Pilot run from Trinity's premises.
This comprehensive healthcare service is a much needed core service and is often the only access Trinity's clients have to treatment (most are not registered with a General Practitioner). People receive immediate medical advice or treatment as well as referrals to GPs and other specialist services. There is also access to confidential sexual health screening.
Adult Learning
Among the most intractable barriers to getting back into a stable life-style are a lack of self-confidence and self-esteem. Many of Trinity's service users have left school without any formal qualifications. At Trinity they are supported and encouraged to take part in classes. Crossing the self-confidence threshold for such students is a huge task, but the benefits come when the learner is able to identify the progress made through his or her own efforts. About 40% of those participating in adult learning go on to employment, some form of structured education or obtain permanent housing.
Courses available include basic IT, cookery, art and basic financial literacy. A wider range of courses in literacy and numeracy, job application skills, gardening, guitar and other subjects can be run when there is sufficient financial support.
The project is currently funded by Hampshire County Council.
