Volunteering Opportunities
*NEW* – We are in need of volunteers to join us at Tesco Winnall to collect shoppers’ spare change. Just a couple of hours on 10th or 11th July would make a huge difference! Please contact us for more information
Here are some ideas of how you could get involved with volunteering for us to help the homeless and vulnerably housed people who use Trinity Winchester’s Services! (Even just an occasional hour would make a difference…)
Local fundraising allows you to be flexible in what you do and how much time you give. We’ll let you know what’s happening and you can volunteer when you’re available.
1. Event Squad
This involves being part of a team who can be
called upon to man Trinity Winchester stands at Local Events, including markets, carnivals, fetes and shows. This is a fun, social role which involves meeting new people and interacting with the general public. You could take your kids along and make it a family affair, or maybe you are a student who would like to man a stand with your friends at the weekend, either way, we’d love you to join us! Besides which, it gives you free entry to some great shows…
2. Charity Ambassador
If you can capture an audience or just want to gain some experience and confidence in public-speaking by assisting in a presentation then this is right up your street! We’d love you to give a presentation to your local Church, School or Rotary Club on our behalf to help raise the profile of Trinity Winchester. Full training would be provided.
3. Auction/raffle prize sourcing
We have an exciting calendar of events each year, many of which involve auctions and raffles to raise funds for Trinity Winchester. We therefore need to source a whole range of prizes for these events, from small children’s gifts to Health Spa Vouchers or Celebrity signed T-shirts! We always need people to use their powers of creativity and tenacity to help us contact local businesses through visits, mail-shots and phone-calls to source these gifts, so if you think you or a group of you could help, then please get in touch.
4. Event Co-ordinator
We have great fundraising ideas, but not enough time and if you love organising events and taking the lead, working with others to make it happen, then this is for you! A few hours a week and then a few more on the day of the event, from your desk at home or here in Bradbury House. Events are a real fun way of raising funds and getting to meet new people, so if you are interested please do call.
5. Office Work
If you’d prefer to work in an office environment, then we have tasks to suit all tastes! Either working in our offices or in the comfort of your own home, depending on skills and time commitment, you could help with mail-shots, data-inputting, calling/mailing to thank donors, designing posters, formatting spreadsheets, updating the database….the list really is endless! One thing is for sure though – you may be inside, but there is never a dull moment. You tell us what you want to do and how much time you have and we fit around you – not the other way around.
6. No time?
Do you go to a book club, a sports centre or golf club? Do you belong to a church or choir? Do your children go to Guides or Scouts? We are very keen to work with local community groups to see how we can raise public awareness of the vital work that we do. Just providing the fundraising team with contacts to point us in the right direction would be invaluable! Or if you can’t do that just follow us on Twitter and Facebook!
So what’s in it for you?
We really appreciate all that our volunteers do for us and in return, will make sure we:
- offer you flexibility to work around your commitments
- provide training and workshops to improve your skills and ensure you feel equipped
- keep you in touch with all the events we are holding
- host social events so you can meet other volunteers
- pay for all reasonable expenses associated with your volunteering
Above all, we realise your time is a very valuable commodity. We will make sure we always take the time to listen to what you want to get out of your volunteering experience. Please contact Sue McKenna on 01962 842827 or sue@trinitywinchester.org.uk for an informal chat or for more information.
